Don't Get Banned: TikTok & Shopee Live Compliance Rules for 2026
S
I'm building SellerBuddies.AI — Southeast Asia's Live Selling Operating System for TikTok Shop and Shopee sellers in the Philippines. 80% of live sessions earn zero sales. Not because sellers are bad — because they don't know what to say, WHEN to say it, and WHY viewers leave. This blog is where I share real data, live selling insights, and behind-the-scenes of building a SaaS from the Philippines 🇵🇭 Real data. Real sellers. Building in public.

You finally built momentum. Viewers are showing up, comments are flowing, cart taps are happening. Then one day — gone. Account flagged. LIVE access revoked. No explanation, just a canned message and an appeal button that leads nowhere.

This happens to PH live sellers more than anyone talks about. TikTok Shop deactivated over 700,000 seller accounts globally in the first half of 2025 alone. The good news: almost every ban is preventable once you know what actually trips the wire. Let's break it down, walang paligid-ligid.

The #1 ban trigger (and it's not what you think)

It's not swearing. It's not a bad product. It's off-platform redirection — telling viewers to check your Facebook, DM you on WhatsApp, or click a Linktree instead of buying through the app.

Both platforms treat this as a direct threat to their commission, so they hit it hard:

  • "Follow my Facebook" ❌

  • "DM me / message me for the link" ❌

  • "Check my Shopee/Lazada instead" ❌

  • Dropping a Linktree in your bio while live ❌

It feels like a small habit. It's the fastest way to lose your LIVE privileges. Keep every transaction inside the app, every time.

TikTok Shop: what's actually banned in a livestream (2026 policy)

Effective July 2026, TikTok Shop's LIVE Content Policy is explicit. These get you flagged:

  • Misleading claims — fake results, exaggerated benefits, "clinically proven" without proof

  • Off-platform redirection (see above)

  • Price manipulation — fake discounts, fake urgency, fake "last stock" countdowns

  • Restricted products without proper documentation

  • Undisclosed AI content — if you're using an AI co-host or AI-generated script, you now have to label it

  • Spam, fraud, IP violations, and unauthorized auctions (use TikTok's own Countdown Bidding feature, not informal auctions)

The new scoring system nobody explained well

TikTok quietly replaced its old violation-points system in 2026. Here's what's live right now:

Creator Health Rating (CHR) — a 0 to 1,000 score, everyone starts at 200.

  • Drop to 150 or below → 3-day LIVE suspension

  • Drop to 100 or below → 7-day suspension

  • Drop to 50 or below → 14-day suspension

  • Hit 0 → permanent ban

Account Health Rating (AHR) — fully replaced the old seller Violation Points system as of July 1, 2026. If you're still going by advice about "violation points," that guide is outdated — the rules changed under you.

Shopee Live: the 7 violations that get you flagged

Shopee groups violations into 7 categories, but the ones that actually catch new sellers are:

  1. Low-quality content (dead air, no host visible, static screen)

  2. Explicit or inappropriate content

  3. Misleading information — including directing buyers off-Shopee

  4. Spamming

  5. Selling inappropriate or restricted products

The penalty math: 2 livestream terminations in a session = automatic livestream ban. Separately, Shopee runs a weekly Seller Penalty Points system — 3 points bans you from campaigns, 15 points freezes your account. Points reset the last Monday of each quarter. IP or counterfeit issues can cost you up to 15 points in one hit — basically an instant freeze.

The rule that catches even honest sellers: no blank camera

Both platforms require a visible human host on screen at all times. No static product images, no blank overlays, no "brb" screens while you grab stock from the back. If your camera briefly loses your face for too long, that's a content-quality violation on both platforms — not a technicality, an actual enforcement trigger.

Why re-registering after a ban usually doesn't work

Sellers who get banned and try to start fresh with the same ID often get hit with what the community calls an "association ban" — the platform links your new account back to the old one and suspends it too. The lesson isn't "find a workaround." It's don't get banned in the first place, because there's often no clean restart.

Your 2026 compliance checklist before you go live

  • No off-platform mentions (Facebook, WhatsApp, Linktree, "DM me")

  • No fake urgency or fake discount claims

  • Host visible on camera the entire stream

  • AI-generated content or AI co-host? Label it

  • Restricted category (like alcohol)? Docs uploaded first

  • Know your current CHR/AHR score before you go live, not after you get suspended

The real fix isn't memorizing rules — it's catching mistakes in real time

Here's the honest problem: compliance rules change fast (TikTok updated its whole scoring system twice in six months), and nobody's reading policy PDFs mid-livestream. You're focused on selling, not scanning for banned phrases.

That's the exact gap Lily, your AI coach inside SellerBuddies.AI, is built to close — she flags compliance risks in your script before you say them live, not after you've already lost your LIVE access. Because the best compliance strategy isn't caution. It's not needing to think about it at all.
